Default beatles or rolling stones

well they are both very good to me. but i would have to say the beatles because they are like a pop band mixed with a rock band. while rolling stones is just a rcok band.

While both are good, I find the Beatles to be better.

And though I like the Stones, I think they're very overplayed and overrated.

Both bands could fall under that heading, but I think it's unfair. Most of the Stones best stuff rarely gets air time. Listen to Beggars Banquet (I'll send you six tracks to wet your beak if you like) and tell me what you think, that album is awesome, and should be respected as such, but is overlooked.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

I have Beggar's Banquet downloaded, I just haven't had the chance to listen to any of it yet. I'll be sure to get around to that, though.

I think I am the only one who actually prefers Let It Bleed.

No seriously they are both not overrated they deserve their status if you guy by how they influenced musicians and future musicians. They wrote the greatest rock songs IMO. While I have said the Stones are not as progressive as the Beatles as musicians. The Stones never came out with anything as complicated as "A Day in the Life" 2 completely different tunes in different keys, sung by 2 different singers and played at 2 different tempos.. The Stones STILL wrote great tunes and I bet 99 percent of the rock bands that followed them would want to have the Stones song catalog. The Beatles influenced recording technology, songwriting, multiple genres and loads of cover versions.

"If you want to learn about the Sixties, play the music of the Beatles." Aaron Copland.

These guys know something about music theory Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland. These guys weren't pumping the Dave Clark Five or Led Zeppelin. And if you doubt this, maybe you should look into Brian Wilson's mental state after Peppers came out.

the beatles are by the far the best hands down

20 number 1 hits in the USA in just 6 years speaks volumes
The critical success achieved is unparalleled
Their influence and legacy is stronger than that of the Rolling Stones despite disbanding almost 40 years ago

Popular success isn't a good determinant of which band is better than another. Queen sold over 300 million albums , I'd still rather listen to, well, just about anything else.

Sometimes I prefer Let It Bleed. I feel like Let It Bleed has better individual songs, while Beggars Banquet is more solid as an album.
