Beatles.

It's fitting that the stones need an edge to win this poll.

Haha I love how the Stones have won 99%! I <3 the Stones, I would have been the best groupie if I could have been born in the right times.

I'd vote The Beatles over the Stones, Zep over the Stones, Floyd over the Stones, Sabbath over the Stones, Queen over the Stones, Yes over the Stones, The Who over the Stones, The Kinks over the Stones, The Moody Blues over the Stones, Cream over the Stones.

In other words. If it's a mainstream British band from 1965-1975 that's not the Stones, I probably prefer them to the Stones. I like the Stones, but that's just my favorite particular era and IMO Stones don't even come close to being the best band of that period.

Other British bands just plain had more to offer, primarly because they didn't just imitate everything that came from America and played it back to us.

..and Cream didn't? I am not a massive Stones but they were one of the first bands in the mainstream with attitude and some great tunes to boot. I just think many albums have a lot of filler.

1. Cream were better at it. 2. They mixed it with psychedelic rock which was an original concept for the time.
