The Monks. I have never heard anyone I know talk about them, never hear them on radio.. or all that much.

I think they should have been massive:

Man, when I made this thread, I considered The Kinks and The Byrds underrated…. I've learned a lot since then; thanks MB.

They're underrated in comparison to the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, but apart from that they're two of the most important bands from the 60s.

Loving Spoonful. I saw a interview where John explained how he wrote some of the music for the Spoonful. A very in depth conversation. They got pawned off as a pop hit band which I think sells them short.
