I was just thinking, as you do, about George Harrison temporarily quitting The Beatles and John Lennon suggesting recruiting Eric Clapton to take his place. One thought led to another, and I began thinking about what specific bands would sound like if they traded guitarists with another band. And so, I decided to ask this question: If you were forming the all-star '60s band who would be in it?
Limits: drums, bass, two guitars (you can designate rhythm/lead if you desire), piano/keyboards (optional), and lead vocals (optional). Limit one member per band, e.g. only one of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards! Here is mine: Drums: Keith Moon (The Who) Bass: Paul McCartney (The Beatles) Rhythm Guitar: Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones) Lead Guitar: Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) Piano/Keyboards: Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys) Lead Vocals: Jim Morrison (The Doors) Wilson is present more for his vocal and songwriting abilities than his skill on the keys. Ditto for Macca. And with those two, I really don't need a specified lead vocalist, but it doesn't seem right not to mention The Doors. Sure, it's a fanciful thread, but so is a lot of these gentlemen's music.
