Prog Rock and Metal
Everybody loves Prog rock and Prog metal right?
Well Lets talk about our favorite Prog bands. |
Yes, Pink Floyd, and Radiohead.
I'm not a big fan of Phish, sadly. |
Well I don't call Phish Prog really, more like jam rock... Pink floyd and Radiohead have to be mentioned, but there's alot of great bands out there that don't get enough credit for their progressiveness, Wishbone ash, Uraih heap, and to a lesser extent King crimson.
|
now please clarify, what is "prog rock"
|
Man, I'm not the one to ask to define anything, I'm so horrible at describing things, It's Progressive, Think like Genesis, Radiohead, damnit, Somebody jump in here and define it.
|
Prog rock stands for progressive rock.
It defines bands that try to move away from the limitations of popular rock sounds of the time and move in new unexplored directions where different forms or sounds of rock can be found. Sub-genres include art-rock, symphonic rock, and prog metal. But yeah, I WOULD classify most of Phish as Prog rock. |
Very good Description, Well Yeah Phish has alot of progessive elements. but they didn't really exist in the Progressive hayday
|
I have to agree with phishfood on this one. Phish is very progressive, but in a different way than what characterizes the progressive rock genre.
|
Generic Agreement:
Let us move on what is Progressive, What's your favorite prog band? |
And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead
