I know what you mean. That is a damn good cover, it made me wet my britches a few times as well.

His songs focused mainly on the Blues are great, but I'm one of those who likes to hear him take things into space. Songs like "Redhouse" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" are very powerful performances, but my all-time favorite Hendrix performances are those like "Third Stone From the Sun," "1983," or even the "Watchtower" cover where he takes things to the next level and beyond.

Hendrix just played a different style of blues than the old timers, more aggressive and more distorted (obviously).

Albert king is great but I prefer BB. Much credit to Albert because he did have a unique style that was quite a bit different from BB's, but I just prefer BB. His tone was just so smooth and his phrases were so damn good. I think Albert might be my least favorite of the kings, it's close between him and Freddie. Freddie could really rip it when he wanted.

Hendrix is an artist from the 60's i would say is relevant, timeless, and entirely unique to this day, in his instrumentation, songwriting, and experimentation. I haven't heard all of his influences, but I get the feeling he synthesized them well enough to create a signature sound you could call his own.

Yeah, that's a good point Surell. There's obviously loads of psych-rock out there, but Hendrix sure had his own special ingridient.

I feel the same way about The Doors. A popular band, but no one has really been able to copy their style.
