Default Johnny And Edgar Winter.........

They have both carved out a respectable career in music, but if you had to choose one of the Brother's discography which one would you choose and why?
I really enjoyed the Roadwork album that Edgar made.

Obviously Edgar has made quite a name for himself in the realm of pulling emotions into the instruments. Though quite possibly his most known song, Frankenstein, it's an absolute masterpiece. Trying to convey a classic movie monster into a song sounds like something difficult to me, but Edgar took it and glorified it. To top it off They Only Come Out At Night is filled with classic like Free Ride and Hangin' Around. Of course the group as a whole pushed a lot into the music. You can't talk about just Edgar V. Johnny, since Dan Hartman pulled out just as much creativity towards songs as Edgar.

My favourite Johnny album is Guitar Slinger and my favourite Edgar album is They Only Come Out at Night. Frankenstein is indeed a masterpiece, in no small part because of Ronnie Montrose. It was a hit single too - they certainly don't make them like that anymore. Guitar Slinger was almost totally ignored, even in its day, but it's very good imo.

I read somewhere that Edgar has a very high IQ, but it did not prevent him from becoming a Scientologist.

The "Roadwork " album by Edgar is a classic. His version of Tobacco Road is one of the best that I have ever listened to...........

Edgar was a wicked alto player! (not to mention a pretty damn good keyboard picker)

Here's a great live version of Frankenstein (sax solo at 2 mins in)

I'd have to pick Johnny,,simply because he's one of the best blues guitarist in the world
I think he's made more of an influence on players and fans alike..

Unhappy

I was watching CNN today and they stated that Johnny Winter passed away yesterday ( 7-16-14). My thoughts go out to his family, friends, and fans. The cause of death wasn't mentioned as of this writing, although his health had been deteriorating for some time. R.I.P. Mr. Winter. Once again the music world has lost another icon.

I read somewhere that his band members watched over him right until the end of his life. Although he never became a house hold name or had ten number one hits he will be remembered by those who actually understand what good guitar playing and artistry is all about.

I would choose Still Alive And Well by Johnny.

Also liked They Only Come Out At Night by Edgar.
