Default Biggest rip off

I know there is artistic licence taken frequently in every area of music, but considering George Harrison was sued for "My Sweet Lord" infringing on "He`s So Fine", why didn`t this happen to Paul Weller for "Start"?
It`s virtually "Taxman" note for note.
Mind you, Oasis ripped off almost every riff The Beatles produced....

The biggest offender to my ears if 'Get a Job' by the Offspring, which is just a slightly punked up version of Obla-di Obla-da by The Beatles.

and "Creep" is basically The Hollies' "The Air that I Breathe" except for the chorus

These two stick out in my mind:

Born this Way (GaGa) is Express Yourself (Madonna).

and

This Is Your Life (The Killers) is Road to Nowhere (Talking Heads).

The main theme for Karma Police is pretty much Sexy Sadie as well.

This is easy. Green Day's song "Warning" is a COMPLETE ripoff of The Kinks' "Picture Book." Get A Job is also a ripoff like mrdave said.

not exactly a carbon copy but Jesus and Mary Chain's Never Understand sounds a bit like T. Rex's Ride a White Swan

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

Bittersweet Symphony's a good song but there's no arguing that the main hook was ripped off.

huh? they didn't rip it off

it was actually a sample, and The Verve acknowledges Oldham as a writer in its credits

I like both versions. I guess you could say that Led Zeppelin was the Coldplay of their day.
