Default Small Faces V Faces

Who was the better band in your opinion?
After Steve Marriot`s exit, the band went in a very different direction with the arrival of Rod Stewart and Ronnie Lane.
To be honest, I can`t decide!
I loved "Itchycoo Park", "All or Nothing" "Tin Soldier" etc from the Smalls, but also "Stay with Me", "Pool Hall Richard" and "You can make me dance, sing or anything" from the later incarnation.
Over to you.....

It's all apples and oranges and chalk and cheese, but I had to vote.

Voted for The Small Faces! Plenty of classic singles, Steve's classic vocals which were more edgy than Rod's, more Mod R&B, the playfulness of Odgens', Ian's classic Organ, Mod sharpness that had a little little influence on Punk, and a great amount of B-Sides.

I like The Faces as well - Rod was at his best then and I have to agree that "You Can Make Me Dance" is an ace track and that Faces were among the top of the line when it came to Early 70's Rock. Solid, but you could sense that it was going to be the Rod Stewart Show at any given time. No dismissal of Rod, he's a great rocker and entertainer who knew the score, but my tastes would rather go for being at the Marquee than in an arena if put into a time machine, and that's why The Small Faces get my vote.

Stevie Marriot (God rest him) didn`t exactly set the heather on fire after The Small Faces. Humble Pie remained a cult band for most of their existence.
I know Small fans who hate Rod.
Think he`s great meself....

Both bands had their moments. I liked both.
