So rock is exclusive to the 70's?

Now you're just mindlessly defending Page and saying absurd things that you don't really mean. I'll back out of the convo now.

Because rock is the only genre that uses guitars, right, how silly of me.

Not at all. But it's really not fair to compare Page, Santana, Clapton, Iommi, Hendrix, Beck, etc. to guys who came afterwards and took the technicality of guitar playing to ridiculous heights.

The poll is about two rock guys who co-existed at their peaks during the 70s.

I know you HATE when I bring stuff like this into the discussion, but who was winning BEST ROCK GUITARIST in all of the magazine polls during that time?

Who said anything about being fair? This isn't kindergarten.

Eric Clapton and you know that is irrelevant and does not help your point.

No! You should always compare the guys after to the guys before. That's how we create a standard and then raise the standard. If we say, "that's unfair comparison" then that guitarist can't get the criticism he needs to reach the same level as guys like hendrix and santana.

Talent wise Jimmy Page, riff wise Toni Iommi. I would rather listen to Sweet Leaf than Black Dog
