I'm with Ki: while he's pretty ****ing good, calling Page one of the greatest either means that you grew up with his dick in your mouth or you're ignorant of most other guitarists. I'm down with calling Bonham one of the greatest though. He drove the band more than Page did, imo.

Heck, playing drumset along with "Back in Black", so that one has anywhere near the feel/groove, dynamics, nuances, phrasing, tone, etc. of Phil Rudd is quite hard. And I've seen people time and again think that that sort of thing is easy, yet fall on their face when they try to do it--because over the years, I've taught tons of drum, bass and keyboard students in between my other musical activities.

At least someone understands what I'm getting at here.

What he said is actually very ignorant (and arrogant and patronizing) re "ignorant of other guitarists."

There are no correct/incorrect opinions on this sort of stuff. You have no idea what anyone's knowledge or experience base is just going by their tastes, just going by who or what they feel is the best and worst.

Lmao. You thinking that my firmly stated opinion is a statement of fact is adorable.

That's not my point though, and for whatever reason, people are looking past my whole point and focusing on minor details. So let me spell it out...

Jimmy Page is a good guitarist, but he's not as great as many other greats. There are 10, maybe 20 other guitarists that could surpass him in a face off. So, when that applies, to put him in a top 10 is negating your ability to focus on what playing a guitar actually is.

"Jimmy Page is a good guitarist."

"He's not as great as many other greats."

"There are 10, maybe 20 other guitarists that could surpass him in a face off."

None of those statements are facts. They're all expressions of how someone feels about his guitar playing, an expression of their preferences.

So, when that applies,
In other words, when expressions of one's preferences "apply"

In other words, "I can't realize that there are no correct or incorrect opinions about what's good or bad, better or worse, etc., when it comes to something like guitar-playing skill, so I'll make a judgment about one's intelligence, knowledge, experience-base etc. based on whether one's opinions are more in line with or further afield from my own."

I think you're the only one asserting that those points are factual.

Let's just leave it at that then. We've expressed our sides, and we're not going to come to an agreement or a middle ground.

And as Frownland said, you're assuming these are facts that I'm throwing out.
