This is shocking. According to Robert pattinson, he will be starring in a movie about The Band.

Well, you can easily say that "The Last Waltz" is one of the best rockumentaries out there. Always worth watching.

I have the soundtrack and the movie. Levon, Robbie, and Rick was the glue. Robbie is still a damn fine singer/songwriter. Showdown At Big Sky, one of his best solo songs, produced by Daniel Lanois, showcased Robertson, Lanois, and even Bono on the LP. I can't remember the group who also sang with them. But it was magical.

Watching this right now. I always love watching Rick Danko playing his antique fretless bass -- he reminds me of lumberjack. :)

Just listened to Music From Big Pink earlier today for the first time. Was quite lovely. I'll listen to it again soon, and this time pay a little more attention. Any of their other albums essential aside from their self-titled?

I totally agree with you.
And the Band performance is absolutely touching, imho.
You can easily feel their emotion for that farewell concert: huge music, huge people

Those are two of their best. I would recommend the album "to kingdom come" and "the basement tapes" with Bob Dylan.
