Ozzy - You Can't Kill Rock n' Roll and/or Tonight
Skid Row - I Remember You (that's right, I put a hair band on the list)
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Stones - Angie (because Wild Horses was taken and Dead Flowers is morbid)
Beatles - Dear Prudence

i love a total of 2 Bon Jovi songs - that one and I'll Be There For You

Since I'm on a Rush kick today anyway, I may as well suggest Closer To The Heart by Rush for rock ballad.

Rush esta muy bueno! Does Red Barchetta count?

For 3 more usually happy Canadians writing ballads, one need only turn to Triumph: Magic Power, Just a Game, Hold On.

OH!!!!
I agree 100%, Triumph is almost twice the band Rush actually is!

Rik Emmett is possibly one of my #1 favorite artist. Studio and Live Performances.

You may also like "This Ain't A Love Song". It's a bit more bluesy, and the melody is really beautiful.

I know! I used to try to mimic Emmett's classical style solos he snuch onto each album. Loved that band.

... being new, I was expecting an anti-hair metal pile on. I have nothing against the genre, I listened whole heartedly and some of my most memorable girlfriends used Cinderella/Poison/Crue-quantities of Aqua Net to boot.

Wish You Were Here- Pink Floyd

ScreaminInTheNight 01-30-2012 12:25 AM

The Day That I Met You – Lillian Axe

slatesphanboi 01-31-2012 04:35 AM

Chris Cornell - Arms around your love

Most folks think of Chris Cornell and they think of the Heavy Metal of Soundgarden or the nu-metal of Audioslave, but believe it or not he can actually pull off an alterna-ballad pretty good (sounds a little like Our Lady Peace too):

Another worthy mention:

Matthew Sweet - I've been waiting.

korn_fan1990 02-05-2012 11:29 PM

Enter Sandman - Metallica
I'd Do Anything For Love - Meat Loaf
Hey You - Pink Floyd

To a Korn fan obviously.

Howard the Duck 02-06-2012 10:06 AM

i think he meant "Nothing Else Matters" or "The Unforgiven"

korn_fan1990 02-06-2012 10:55 AM

Sorry...Idk it has to be a ballad. I wasn't focused.

1) Knockin' on Heaven's Door
2) Lady in Red
3) Wonderful Tonight

Steel Wheels 02-18-2012 01:02 AM

It would have to be "Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship. Grace Slick's vocals are perfect.
"Almost Hear You Sigh" by the Stones is another favourite of mine.

Howard the Duck 02-18-2012 02:38 AM

i quite like the theme from The Greatest American Hero

forgot its title and singer

it goes "believe it or not, i'm walking on air"

ElvisThunders 02-20-2012 03:02 PM

Love Me Tender by Elvis or

Earth Angel by the Penguins or

Share by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers or

In the Still of the Night by the Five Satins

ClassicRockLover 03-20-2012 11:40 AM

So many great songs to choose from but I think I've got my top 5 here:

My first choice:
Thank You - Led Zeppelin:

2nd choice:
These Are the Days of Our Lives - Queen

3rd Choice
Soon - Yes

4th Choice:
Songbird - Fleetwood Mac

5th choice:
Ruby Tuesday - Rolling Stones

William Zanzinger 03-22-2012 06:41 PM

"Lady in Red"= a rock ballad? FFS!
Dire, extremely dire IMO.

Pour moi-
"Sad eyed Lady of the Lowlands"-His Bobness.
"Since I`ve been loving you"-Led Zep
"Love that burns"-Peter Green`s Fleetwood Mac
"Layla"-Eric Clapton
"Girl"-The Beatles

classicrock 03-23-2012 12:53 AM

Firehouse - when i look into your eyes..

awesome voice..

Howard the Duck 06-02-2012 08:15 AM

not that terrific a song, but hella fun to play on guitar

I think its a great song, it was actually a last minute entry onto their breakthrough Leftoverture album and "Dust in the Wind" proved to be the hit single that the record company wanted them to put out.

Based on that pic, yep they do look like a bunch of redneck badasses.

Going through my catalog, here's some fav's in alphabetical order:

Alterbridge - Burn It Down
Daughtry - Feels Like Tonight
Death Angel - Veil Of Deception (kind of a ballad)
Def Leppard - Hysteria/Love And Affection/Love Bites
Duran Duran - Ordinary World
ELO - Telephone Line
GnR - This I Love

The list could get pretty huge.

scarre 06-04-2012 09:59 AM

Id go with new British band Selby Green - Get Down. They're not massive but I think they will be!! :yeah:
