This is actually a very good list! Bold as Love though could be replaced with something else. (It`s still a good album though)

3. Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars - David Bowie
4. Red - King Crimson
5. Blood on the Tracks - Dylan
6. Band on the Run - Paul McCartney & Wings
7. Paranoid - Black Sabbath
8. Deep Purple in Rock
9. Toys in the Attic - Aerosmith
10. Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow
I like this list for the most part. I know for a fact my hardcore classic rock friends would never be able to tolerate King Crimson and a whole album of David Bowie. And I equally would never consider them classic rock, either.

For me, the albums classic rock fans like the best are the ones that have the most hits, and contain the songs played on the radio the most. Considering the genre ruled my teen years, I just remember my favorite albums from back then. In no special order...

Deep Purple- Made in Japan
Led Zeppelin- II and IV
Paranoid- Black Sabbath
Boston- Boston
AC/DC Back in Black
Aerosmith- Toys in the Attic
The Who- Who's Next
CCR- Cosmos Factory
Bad Company- Bad Company
