While I don't want to violate my own rule, there are assumptions made about my opinions, and I'd like to be clear on those.
As far as Entwhistle v. Sting goes, its completly a matter of preference. I hope, if nothing else, that much is clear. I hate neither Prog rock nor technical musicians. There are large portions of Prog Rock culture that I certainly don't care for, but I enjoy at the least a handful of Prog Rock. I'm fully aware of the technicality of The Police, I think Andy Summers is one of the most under appreciated guitarists out there. I'm also not sure how you got the quote below but if you care to delve deeper I'll explain myself... Quote:

The Police are one of the best 3 piece bands ever in my opinion. Synchronicity is my favorite album, although I like just about everything ever done by the Police. One of my favorite more..sophisticated singles of all-time is Russians by Sting from his debut solo album "The Dream of the Blue Turtles" released in 1985. This song simply rolled the 46 years of the cold war into one song/statement. The cold war was a continuing state from roughly 1946 to 1991 of political conflict and military tension.

I love how these guys incorporated Reggae into their New Wave rock sound. I'm not sure of his name (something Copeland?) but the drummer for The Police is excellent. Listen to some of his drumming on Regatta de Blanc for instance, and you'll see how he combines his great drumming with Sting's Bass.

Yeah I thought his first name was something along those lines.
