Default Bigger tradegy in Rock history Jim Morrison or Jimi Hendrix?

Note: This has nothing to do with how they died. This is mainly based on their careers and contributions to music. I'll start off with Jim Morrison. He was the lead singer and lyricist of The Doors. He had a very distinctive style of writing and he wrote many classic songs. He was also an extremely unique front man. Jimi Hendrix without a doubt the greatest guitar player of all time. He was also an extremely talented writer. Jimi Hendrix is one of the most influential people in Rock history.
I personally feel Morrison was, his lyrics can are just completely unique and he could of done so much if he hadn't of died. I'm a fan of both but being a songwriter myself I'm largely influenced by Morrison so that's one of the reasons I chose him.
Opinions? Thoughts?

Hendrix is the bigger tragedy since he was a far, far more talented person.

Bearing in mind I have no great interest in the music of either, I'd say Hendrix considering Jim Morrison was widely perceived as past it upon his death, as Hendrix probably would have been once his lifestyle took it's toll.

Hendrix had barely started on what could have been an even more epic musical career. The Jimi Hendrix Experience's debut, Are You Experienced, was released in 67 .. Jimi dies 3 years and 3 albums later in 1970. Okay, maybe there's not a terrible lot more time for Jim Morrison between their debut and his death, but at least he got to do 6 studio albums with The Doors before he died.

I like to think that if Hendrix had lived on, perhaps there would have been a band called HELP for Hendrix, Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Yeah, it's very surreal to think about, imagine Hendrix singing the vocals to Karn Evil 9 1st Impression and doing the guitar solo. Holy sh*t.

I still think this thread should be locked, it's a stupid comparison, I'm very sure it's been done before, and it will inevitably lead to a lot of redundant Doors bashing.

Hendrix was by far the better musician. Wasnt around long enough to put enough of his genius out there.

If you were into the music of both, you`d be aware that when Morrison died the album "L.A Woman" was a major return to form and ranks along with the first 3 Doors albums as one of their best, especially with well known tracks like "LA Woman" and the delightful and wonderful "Riders on the Storm"

As Boo Boo says, the thread should be shut down as we`ll get the usual Doors bashing bunch on here quite soon.

Is this a cleverly disguised vs, thread.

The clear and obvious answer is Hendrix,

It shouldn't even be a question.
