The Doors generic! Really! How very interesting! Do you listen to much music then?

You're killing me man, noodles are one of the best things that happened to music.

not when it's simple and goes nowhere

classic Yes noodles I can take, cos they're complex and build up the song

You've picked out two of the most impressive bits of noodling in any Doors songs, they're what 1960s acid rock was all about.

If you want boring noodling that goes nowhere Tales From Topographic Oceans is the prime example.

The Crystal Ship used to be my favourite Doors song, but it's probably Roadhouse Blues or Peace Frog.

Well I'm just not the biggest fan of short, non-progressive 60's tracks, somehow. Pink Floyd and King Crimson are the **** in the 60's for me, but frankly, I don't give much about The Beatles and The Doors, to name a few. (HATERS GONNA HAAATE!)

Very few bands were doing long progressive stuff in the 1960s. It was mostly proto-progressive acts like Moody Blues, the Nice and Procul Harum along with those that you mentioned that were doing it. Most of the other bands that did longer material were the more acid based jamming bands. Prog really kicked off in 1970 and reached its zenith a couple of years later.
