No thread on Love? Arthur Lee!! He's great. Forever Changes is their classic, and it's one of my favorites. Though, I think the first half of Da Capo probably beats out Forever Changes as far as pop sensibility goes. I really dig the poppy side of psychedelic rock, and they do it so well. The arrangements are really lush, I love 'em.

Song from each of their first three albums:

Love - My Little Red Book

(How lame, I was going to put up Que Vida from Da Capo, but it's the only one from Da Capo not on Youtube! This'll do.)

Love - Orange Skies

Love - Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale

It is surprising that Love don`t have a thread on here, as we are talking about a very unique band and probably one of the most important bands of their era. It still amazes me how an album like "Forever Changes" one of the greatest albums of its genre went unnoticed at the time and wasn`t recognized for many years. Its combination of psychedelia, latin rhythms and acoustic musings are simply unforgettable. "Da Capo" is also another classic album and I love it just as much, I actually prefer though Alice Cooper' s version of the "7 and 7 is"

Arthur Lee was an extremely gifted individual that pre-dated Jimi Hendrix and in fact I once read that Hendrix got a lot of his fashion sense from Arthur Lee himself.

I have a number of classic Love songs but "Alone Again or" Always seems to stick out for me.

I agree that their lack of mention is a bit of a mystery. If my memory serves me correctly, there's not a single Love review in the album review index. I don't listen to them much, but I like them. I only have Forever Changes, though.

Love that wild, multi-faceted and eccentric band and indeed, the first side of Da Capo is exquisite. One of the reasons why they weren't that popular is that the refused to tour, you had to travel to SoCal to hear them.

Though there is a Forever Changes review by Bulldog and a Da Capo one by TheCellarTapes... As I got introduced to Love by these reviews.

Edit:
I donno if it can be a "review", but Forever Changes is no.27 in Bulldog's 100:

... I wonder where that Da Capo review went... I can't find it anywhere.

I have Da Capo, Four Sail and Forever Changes and honestly, Forever Changes is light years ahead of the others quality-wise and the only required one, IMO.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
