As Beatles, I think "Something" is one of the finest pieces of song writing there is in the history of music. So, George has my vote with John. Paul had some nice little ditties but John's was so starkly different. He wasn't trying to write for commercial success. Ringo has a few. George though with the few he wrote were truly incredible. Wasn't it Sinatra who said "Something" was the best Lennon/McCartney composition? That must have been a real honor to have the Chairman of the Board to screw up and consider George's writing just as good as the main songwriters.
Solo-wise, nothing brings me to tears like a good George Harrison song. "Be Here Now" from "Spirits In The Material World" is absolutely heartbreaking. Besides that, I love the musicians both he and John used on their solo endeavors. Jim Keltner (who is such a warm soul), Klaus Voorman's signature bass sound, etc. I love John's solo work too. I'm just a little creeped out by Yoko. |

I love Paul. Perhaps John was the more sophisticated songwriter, but Paul was a superior musician and I find him so damn charming! I guess I could argue any of them because there isn't a Beatle that I dislike, but I'm not going to play devil's advocate. My favorite is Paul.

George- his was my favorite Beatles song (Here Comes the Sun).
More personally, I learned that song as one of my first ever songs with a solo when I first started playing.

I like John in the early days and Paul in the later days. And IMO, John's music was 90% (and I'm being generous) BAD after the Beatles.
BTW, John Lennon died, not from a bullet to the back; he died when Yoko corrupted his brain....The body of John lived, but John Lennon died then. Yoko's brainwashing was like a form of Alzheimers. I F'ing LOATH Yoko. Yoko is pure evil and ugliness. Last edited by tomcat; 03-20-2010 at 12:24 PM. |

![]() This is a load of ridiculous bullsh*t. I'm not a fan of Yoko but you're making it out like she was an evil sorcerer or something. John was purely capable of making his own decisions, I don't see how wanting to break free from the band so he can have full creative control over distributing his work because his former songwriting partner was turning into a control freak equates to "corrupting his brain". Also, John Lennon's solo career is superb, the songs he wrote after the Beatles are on par with anything he wrote with the Beatles, nothing changed, his creativity continued to evolve, Yoko actually deserves a lot of credit for that, she was his muse in a way. If you think Plastic Ono Band and Imagine were bad albums then I just don't know what to say, they're leagues beyond any of Paul's solo work. |

You're entitled to your opinion on John Winston (sorry, he legally changed his middle name to ONO...hmmm???)...So Let me rephrase, John Ono Lennon's solo work--which I think for the very MOST part sucks. But I'm spot on with my take concerning Yoko, Lucifer, Ono and the manipulative rot she infested John's mind with.

Even if I have to admit that Mind Games is one of the ugliest albums I've ever heard, you can't rule out the fact that Plastic Ono Band, Imagine, Walls & Bridges, Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey contain some of this man's best work. Not to forget that Ono had some great tracks on Double Fantasy. So stop acting so childishly, as if you're wiser than the Ono-blinded Lennon, even if you subconsciously think that if Lennon stayed in Britain instead of following Yoko to New York he might've stayed alive. Snap out of it, the guy is dead, and Yoko Ono was not the Lucifer of the Dakota building.
