"Lil`Beethoven" Just shocked me when I heard it! We`re talking about a group that are like nearly 20 albums in here, a time when most groups have loooooooooong run out of ideas. Not Sparks though, they manage to put out one their greatest albums in "Lil`Beethoven"

"Exotic Creatures of the Deep" Is on a future listening schedule, so yet to hear it.

Other albums of note are "Whomp That Sucker" "Angst in my Pants" and "Sparks in Outer Space" Whomp though the best of the three.

In 1970, Mick Ralph's riffing was considered quite brutal, and by today's standard, is still very energetic.
Mick Ralphs is kind of like a long forgotten guitarist and seldom hear his name mentioned these days.

^He had restrained, but very tasteful style with Bad Co., but with early Mott, Ralph's riffs were gnarly. He rarely partook in producing those extended bluesy solos that guitarist built their names on.

I was listening to some Mott the Hoople recently, the album "Mott" is one of those great hard rock albums of the 70`s written on the road about tales of the road, the kind of thing you just don`t hear anymore.

The only negative for me, is that the group always get lumped in with the glam rock mob of the day.

I was going to post a UFO song in this thread because I always seem to forget how f*cking awesome that band is.

Anyway then I decided I couldn't make up my mind which song to post and I don't want to be one of those annoying cunts who post about 50 youtube videos with every post.

So yeah, you all have fingers just go find one yourself

I endorse this post, Especially For You is a Power Pop classic.

I`d suggest this one, its from the "Lights Out" album which I consider their best.

I'll take anything off of Force it, except for "This Kids". Check out Strangers in the Night for that one.

I'm not sure if it counts as "classic rock" necessarily, but The Left Banke were a fantastic baroque-pop band from 1967. They only released one great album, Walk Away Renee/Pretty Ballerina, but it is pretty damn great. Check it.
