I'd probably say they've both remained about equally relevant in similar circles as of late, though Young may have a slightly younger edge of the fanbase, Dylan older, so still about equal.

I don't like putting great artists in competition like this. It doesn't really make sense to me, they are both brilliant in their own way.

Neil wins this battle every day of the week for me. His singing voice is more appealing than Dylan's ever was, he can play that guitar like a boss, he can write crazily beautiful songs that Dylan can't even touch, and his whole style is just better.
Nobody but Neil can rip into a heavy song like "Powderfinger" and still make it sound beautiful, much thanks to the guitar playing. |

Bob Dylan plays the intro which is alright, but the killer solo on that track is played by Robbie Robertson. Someone a few pages back also mentioned Dylan's guitar work on Blood on the Tracks, but all of the cool steel guitar work is played by Buddy Cage. Personally, I'd say Dylan's best guitar work is featured on the albums "Good As I Been To You" and "World Gone Wrong." As for Dylan vs. Young, I'm going with Dylan. Neil is great, but songs such as "Shelter From The Storm", "Desolation Row", "Mr. Tambourine Man", and the more recent "Red River Shore" put Dylan head and shoulders above Neil.
