I'm not ignoring any of it , I quite like some of that stuff.

His "better half" was better than all of Frank Zappa's career.
In that case his "rubbish half" doesn't matter at all.

Frank Zappa's albums are all brilliant in their own way, he has no real albums that are unilaterally hated by a large portion of the fanbase. When a zappa fan talks about the albums it's always "the ones I love" not "the ones I prefer or hate"

nah^ i think you'll hear any one of the 346536692 Bowie people rabbiting on about how much they love Ziggy Stardust, Low, Heroes, Station etc etc.

voting in this was a drag, but i just thought about who has written music that i would want to hear before i died, or if I knew I was going to die. Bowie does pop or just more direct music, he is not the 'musician's musician' but he cuts to the emotional core of thigns like all the greatest pop music.

I love Zappa, I really do, he was one of a handful of popular figures in contemporary music who really understood how music worked (Elliott Smith would be another) but I do not go to him for an emotional reaction. Unless that reaction is indignation and anger, 'in it for the money' is great 4 that
