Heat Twenty Three: Battle of the Bands
Genesis:
Whether you like Gabriel or Collins era Genesis we should all agree that Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was a huge joke to prove that prog fans will like anything crap as long as it’s pretentious. Goblin: Best known for their Movie Soundtrack of Suspiria in which they did an incredibly good job these guys are pretty damn awesome. The Animals: One of the greatest things to come from Newcastle Upon Tyne, says it all really. Tangerine Dream: More Krautrock See: Neu! Brainticket: A bunch of Swiss, German and Italians bunched together doesn’t sound ideal, never heard it though.

The Animals for me, an integral part of the British led Blues Revival of the early 1960s
Eric Burdon as a vocalist is one of the finest R&B singers to originate from any country. And the bassist, Chas Chandler, only happened to arrange for Jimi Hendrix to be in a band with Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, Nuff said really. |

Brainticket are kinda Krautrock-y, cept with a lot more psychedeliciousness.
I'm voting for them, so here's one of their tasty tracks for the rest of you called Places of Light so you guys can hear for yourselves:

I think Collins era Genesis has produced some great stuff (but of course, a lot of crap also). Though they became more of a song band than an album band.

Domino: In The Glow Of The Night / The Last Domino and Home By The Sea/ Second Home By The Sea are excellent post Gabriel tunes but they were generally Meh after he left.
I'm voting for Tangerine Dream all the way. Been a fan for nearly 20 years now.
