well, I donno, I think it would depend on what they heard. for example, there's this live cd from them in 1969 called "live at the paradiso", that, despite it being in their golden period, was pretty bad, and if that was the only thing I heard from them, I would probably pick the Doors too. but its pretty obscure, so yeah

Well, sorry I'm not a huge fan of the only real psychedelic rock band that Rolling Stone thought was worth putting up on their golden pedestal of Fame. Perhaps I should have said that Soft Machine, Amon Duul II, The Sonics, AND 13th Floor Elevators were ALL better than The Doors, but as I'm the minority here...

Fusion-fan or not, I thought these polls were supposed (partially anyway) to help elevate lesser known groups over the big-names so that people would be inclined to learn more about them? Otherwise, the whole Battle of the Bands contest is nothing but an act of corporate masterbation and you might as well post up Rolling Stone's list of Top 500 Artists for everyone to read.

It's really a shame so many big names got nominated in the first place actually (which I didn't help as I was the one who nominated King Crimson), because as a result most of bands that were obscure to begin with will remain such.

That's not the goal at all, you vote for the band you prefer, that's what Comus is asking, and that's what I did, don't turn this into a corporate thing because I prefer the most well known band.
