Steve Harley and ****ney Rebel

Strange that there isn't a thread on this man and his wacky band. Possessing an unusual voice (hauntingly reminiscent of David Bowie) and a finesse for pop hooks, Steve Harley swayed romantically between pop and progressive music. His band, Cockney Rebel was responsible for a few great albums: The Human Menagerie (1973) The Psychomodo (1974) The Best Years of Our Lives (1975) Any other fans out there? |

Obviously 'Come Up And See Me' is the song they are most known for but I have never heard anything else i have to confess. Maybe this should be rectified.

Is that an album cover?

As this band are a bit of a one-hit-wonder, the least to be done is to post their one hit:- |

According to AllMusic.com, Steve Harley was "second only to Bowie himself", and this track makes the comparison understandable:-
Also, intriguingly, "no Cockney Rebel single ever featured an electric guitar." I'm tempted to cherry-pick my way through their discography... |
Probably my favourite track
