Default Heat Nine: Battle of the Bands

Gong:

One of the big Canterbury scene bands along with Soft Machine, so they deliver exactly what you’d expect, brilliant fusion along with a nice lacing of psychedelia. You, Flying Teapot and Angel’s Egg are all essential.

Procul Harum:

Try Shine on Brightly, if it tickles your fancy you’ll love the variety this band has to offer.

Rush:

The best band to come out of Canada with the possible exception of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Moving Pictures is amazing, like, best album ever amazing released a bit late, but the criteria is only to be formed before the 80’s. Anyways vote for them because they’re great.

The Left Banke

ROB IT! Actually, no idea about these guys, and I’m getting bored writing band bios.

Curved Air:

You know what’s really cool man? The way air curves man? Like when you’ve got a really nice bong and you just watch the air curve inside it man? It’s like wow man.

Procol Harum's debut album is pure gold, so I vote for them (even over Gong).

Mostly Lifted from Allmusic.com
New York group who pioneered "Baroque'n'Roll" in the '60s with their mix of pop/rock and grand, quasi-classical arrangements and melodies, the group scored two quick hits with "Walk Away Renee" (number five) and "Pretty Ballerina (number 15), and made two belting albums.
