I think The Beatles remain kind of undisputed as the most significant rock band in history.
But I think Led Zeppelin has had a more prominent influence stylistically on rock music and metal as a whole.

Those riffy tentacles seem to seap into almost every sub-genre in one way or another. Obviously there were other bands riding the same wave back then but I'm having a hard time thinking of anyone that pushed the boundaries of that style further than Zeppelin, they demonstrated so much range across each album. The more ground you cover, the more musicians you influence.

I love you. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :p:

I'm confident enough in my masculinity to take on the fem role.

Wait. What?

I'm out too.

I was undecided. The Beatles or Bob Dylan.

Beatles may be overrated to bits and pieces but you cant deny that they did influence music incredibly.

That's what I think too.
I'm not a big fan and I think there are many bands better than them, some of them in the poll. Even Paul's solo career is better than Beatles to me.
But they're probably the most influent artists in pop music ever followed by the Stones.

But of course everyone in the poll is very influent too, most of them according to the genre we're talking about. For instance, I think the most influential band to alternative rock and lo-fi stuff is the Velvet Underground.

From this list, I feel like The Beatles win by a landslide.

However.

IMHO, Black Sabbath is the most influential - they completely changed the rock scene, and paved the way for the heavy metal genre.

I don’t agree that BS were more influential than the Beatles but I do think you can make a great case that they are the two most influential bands of all time.
