(Adult Contemporary) They are among some of the best selling artist of all-time. They had a jazz trio thing going with Wes Jacob in '65. Their music may have very well been influenced by jazz for obvious reasons, if that's what you mean by jazz-based.

I'm glad you pointed the jazz aspect of their music out to me. I know that Richard Carpenter is a well esteemed songwriter and producer by various opinions. if you define jazz based on its improvisational, dynamic and harmonic character, then you can say that is what their music is partly based on, (as you stated before).

I don't know if that applies in the states or not. Of course "All Right Now" by Free has always been popular here, but that's about it, as far as Free is concerned with mainstream. Bad Company's Ready For Love, Bad Company-Bad Company, Movin'On, The Sky Is Burning, and the list just goes on, is always being played on the classic rock stations here.
