A lot of Beatles songs have a great distinct drum beat.

He didn't just use the same drumlines over and over.

Like say Meg White or Phil Rudd.

To me he just seems like an above average musician who was simply outshined by his bandmates.

lucifer_sam 07-19-2009 05:55 PM

yes because Paul's basslines were THAT inventive.

Stop bashing Meg White, her style matches their music perfectly. They are following a minimalistic a art movement (De Stijl), and thus Bonham-esque drumming or whatever would've been unfitting.

I'm not bashing her.

I'm just saying she uses the same drumbeats over and over, that's just stating a fact.

but the difference between ringo starr and meg white is timing, style has nothing to do with it.

you couldn't take ringo off the beat with a backhoe.

the only reason meg white seems on time is because jack white compensates.

lucifer_sam 07-20-2009 07:52 PM

i got crucified months ago for saying Meg White was a shite drummer. it's like people on this board don't have ears, there's a fucking difference between minimalism and the inability to hold a beat.

I remember once when Blender mag compared Meg White to John Bonham.

I almost choked on my vomit.
