I voted for Hendrix, although in hindsight I probably should have voted for The Beatles simply based on their sheer ubiquitous presence in pop music.
Having said that Hendrix was hugely influential upon guitarists and pioneered the use of distortion and effects pedals. I'd say his incursions into psychedelic were far more convincing than The Beatles. And I don't think it would be stretching it to say that he had a massive influence on prog rock's formation and the increase in technicality that came with the genre. |

The Beatles influenced about every Power Pop band also in existence and much of early Progressive Rock

The Moody Blues Kurt Cobain and David Grohl Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys was inspired by Rubber Soul that he created Pet Sounds Radiohead- "Karma Police" is based on "Sexy Sadie" and "Paraniod Andriod" is based on "Happiness is a Warm Gun" Beck - "New Pollution" rips off "Tomorrow Never Knows" The Chemical Brothers- has at least songs influenced by "Tomorrow Never Knows" including "Setting Sun" and "Let Forever Be" Oasis The Jam Blur Queen Bono- calls the Beatles his biggest influence. If you type on the beatles biography from answers on google. There is a list of Beatles followers which is about the combined amount of followers of the Kinks and the Velvet Underground combined. |
