Favorite Eric Clapton Band

Saw the "favourite Anthony Green band" thread in General and thought to do an Eric Clapton one. Mine'd have to be Derek and the Dominos. The entire Layla album almost puts me in tears & it's completely gorgeous.

1. Cream
2. Derek and the Dominos
3. John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton (does that count?)
4. Blind Faith

Derek and the Dominos have the best live album (Live at Filmore East) but Cream has the best studio album (Disraeli Gears) and 2 other monumental albums.

Anything with Clapton counts. Cream would be my second to Derek and the Dominos, reverse of yours ha.

This definitely does count and wins hands down for me followed by Cream.

(A bit OT, but...)
^ Who else thought incorporating Sunshine of Your Love in the Goodfellas scene was rather brilliant? Though all Marty's movies seem to have an excellent score.

Scorsese is a master at incorporating music into his movies. Probably one of the best.

Agreed. I think it goes along with being interested in that sort of mobster-genre. You're not gonna sync Goodfellas with pop songs, 'cuz Henry Hill's a rockstar. Dig?

I vote Derek and the Dominos. One unbelievable album, and probably the best song ever (yeah I'm talking about Layla)...what is there more to say?

Layla is a great song, and it has a soft spot in my heart for all time. But in a logical way of musical thinking, there are so many other songs on the Layla album that are arguably better. IE, Anyday, Bell Bottom Blues, etc.
