I'll say Alex Lifeson, but that's not horribly realistic.

Overrated Elvis is not the King of Rock N Roll. He was just a white man that was glorified for doing manufactured imitations of African American entertainers and music.

Little Richard, Fats Dominos, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee are the KANGS. I give the slight edge to Little Richard though, he is a genius!

Except, Elvis and Bill Haley were doing it before Chuck and Richard. Nice try though.

Except Elvis did not invent anything. Blacks were doing it before.

Fats Domino was doing it before all three.

Yeah, but I'm not sure if Fats is rock. I completely love him though, but I vote for Chuck cos he was the one who caused that electric guitar became the man instrument of rock. Though Little Richard should be respected for his amazing vocals.

I wouldn't even say that 50's rock and roll should be considered "rock" either, even though it gave birth to it later. Little Richard used the piano as the primary instrument, just like Fats Domino (though he screamed a bit louder).

I dunno, I would say fifties rock n roll is one of the subgenres of rock. I personally love many fifties artists, but they were just single artists, their albums were way too inconsistent back then (cos single was still the main format)

But would Rock n Roll be as big a deal without Elvis?
Every interview I've heard with musicians & performers who were around in the 1950s say the same thing. It was when they heard Elvis that their lives were changed.
It wasn't until after they discovered Elvis they discovered the black artists.
