You're the only one complaining about my analogies. And no, I already said a lot of my favorite are favorites for different reasons, and I made it perfectly clear how many albums are my favorites for reasons OTHER THAN quality. You're the one refusing to look at any of the original analogies I've stated about how I like The Wall for the story more than I like the quality of DSOTM, about how I find the worse but catchier albums Achtung Baby and Discipline more than the quality of The Joshua Tree and Larks. If you don't understand, that's your business. But calling my analogies ****ty is only going to get me riled up. And like I said, you're the first person ever to complain about this thing that I've told tons of people before you. Most just say, "I get what you're saying," or "I don't understand, but do what you will." You're the only one with a legitimate problem, and you resort to annoyance and foul language. The first post you made told me to "get over it."

Listen, I respect your opinion enough not to call your opinions ****ty or foolish. How about you respect mine? Bottom line is I'm not a fool I'm not a moron, and I'm not ****ty. I know you weren't calling me ****ty, but recognizing the difference in something is indeed a legitimate opinion, even if I do it in an art or not. I do it specifically because it exercises judgement, which has helped to strengthen my mentality and my skills on how to write reviews and critique things, even things besides albums.

But I'll keep the analogies up. I'm not gonna call a blur-ray player a DVD player because they are different things. I'm not going to call the monitor of a computer "the computer." I'm not going to call a chair "a couch." I'm not going to call a pencil a pencil a pen. I'm not going to say that best is always the same as favorite. And I'm not going to argue with this any further, because apparently my opinion annoys you. That's just childish, if you ask me. If my opinion was that Justin Bieber was a finer musician than Wagner, then you can complain.

Uh, duh. How does this change the fact that your analogies are largely erroneous?

Quality in art is entirely subjective and is not the sole determining factor in what is "best." Is that so hard to understand? I respect your opinions that I don't find to be poorly constructed. This is not one of those cases.

Maybe if you looked at the content of what I was saying instead getting outraged at my over the top language (which in all honesty is more tongue in cheek than anything), you might understand where I'm coming from with this and subsequently why you are abhorrently wrong.

It was impressive indeed.
But you could measure this subjective thing in two different ways.
Say your criteria for judging a piece of music are a beautiful melody, technical skill, clear production.
So you'd call a piece of music that excells in those criteria the best.
And then there might be some song that is pretty ****ty, but you've been constantly listening to it on a party way back and since then it evokes feelings that make it so enjoyable, that you prefer listening to it to listening to the aforementioned best song. And you know that you'd probably dislike it without all the nostalgia.
I get that you don't like to rate art that way for yourself, but it's hardly invalid or semantically wrong.

That could also be used to determine what's best, since deciding what criteria makes something the best is subjective as well. That factor could be an emotional response, and whether it's directly brought on by the song or through it's associations (which i don't think that most people are conscious of differentiating), it still has a similar effect. I don't think that personal connection should invalidate what someone considers to be best.

EDIT: I guess I'm the one doing the mental gymnastics now.

Hold the phone! You said "could" and "also." You also said "similar." So, since it's only similar, and it can also be used that way, does that mean it's not exactly the same thing? If it's only "could also," do you realize the differences now? It doesn't mean you have to agree, but do you at least understand? I have no problem with people rating things your way, and I'm aware most people do. But you seem to have a problem with mine.

Well, I came back because I figured the subject might have changed since grindy's here, but I don't think he really changes the subject often now that I think about it.

And, grindy. About that party, you didn't just pin the tail on the donkey; you nailed it on the ass's ass, like there was a birthmark on the donkey's ass that looks like the really tiny space on the center of a dartboard that gives you like, what 500 points?. This is exactly what I'm talking about. I mgiht not be as good at explaining it as I should be, since this is a common topic for me. It never really turned into this kind of argument, however, so I do not doubt that stress may have clouded my mind a little.

Exactly. Frown, you've been showing signs of annoyance at this opinion, which is completely valid. Even if the language was tongue and cheek, telling me to "get over it" was what started my own annoyance at the subject. I understand that a forum has trolling, but there are limits. I mean, how would you feel if I told you to just "get over it?" And what really broke the camel's back was that you told me that and you're a moderator. Is that really the kind of response a moderator should have when someone just simply disagrees? I know it seems a bit off for a regular user to scold a moderator, but I said nothing to invoke that behavior you displayed in the first post. So answer this: what lead you to say that?

I'm a dick, get used to it and quit crying about it ffs. 90% of this discussion is you whining that you didn't deserve my harsh language and I find that obnoxious.

Or, I could just report your harassment. If I'm so obnoxious, why are you trying so hard to be a dick? Does that not make you the obnoxious one? I don't care if you're a moderator, and I don't care if you're the president of the United States. I have enough pride and reason to act rationally upon a harassing post. You just told me to "get use to it;" that you found my "whining obnoxious" when you were the one who trolled me with an abusive post; and now you're attempting to be more of a, and I quote you, "dick," while intentionally over-exaggerating the amount of "whining" i've done when really you know you invoked it. I don't mind trolling. But abusing me like you just did with this last post is unruly. I do not feel that you are fit to be a moderator for that kind of attitude. I won;t start a mutiny or anything, but I've already reported this last post of yours, and I have a feeling you know it deserves to be reported. I'm not as easygoing as a lot of users, and you know that based on past discussions I've had. Clearly, you aren't very easygoing either.

Now that I've reported your harassment, I will truly leave now because there's no way I can tell you that you were being abusive. You won't listen to me without being rude to me. I did nothing to you to invoke that, and now you go all out with trolling? I may be whiny, but I'm not abusive like you.

I guess I'm sort of at fault here for initiating the argument in the first place. Sorry for the trouble guys.
