But how anyone can stand Plants annoying wailing and Page's stolen riffs in addition to the sheer annoyingness of songs like Misty Mountain Hop is beyond me. Thank you for wasting 40 minutes of my time Zeppelin.

People really overdo the whole stoen riff thing...Recall a certain arguement about Brian Wilson(Robert Plant) Crowquill? What's so terrible about the lyrical subjects?

It just breaks my Heart Hammer for you to categorize Zeppelin as stadium rockers first and foremost. I always viewed their amazing live performances as just icing on the cake. For me the more music I hear the more I appreciate them. In their entire discography there is only one song "Hot Dog" that I don't like.

As for Crowquills assessment of Robert Plant's voice, that would be fine except almost every one of your favorite bands have far far far more whiny & annoying singers then Plant.

I like both you guys a lot and I have nothing but respect for your musical taste and knowledge so I don't want to create a rift or have you view this as an attack.

Creating this thread was just a light hearted thing anyways.

I don't care if Crowquill doesn't like them, I am just shocked he can say the things he says about them. And the stolen riffs thing as I've addressed is just absurd, given a day I could find a song that sounds like another for any song on any album. Until someone successfully sues or gets Zeppelin to admit they stole something you just look stupid bringing it up.

Also choosing "Going to California" as a song to attack lyrical quality is an awful choice. Those are excellent lyrics and your comment afterward shows how little you understand about the content of that song. Again no offense, just a little bumped by it is all.

Yeah when you steal guitar riffs and you're being hyped as one of the greatest guitarists ever it usually doesn't go down well.

You know you bitch about Brian Wilson's lyrics so much and hold it against me but i've never praised him as a lyrical genius. He knew he wasn't good either. Thats why Tony Asher did a good deal of the writing on Pet Sounds, a fact you ignored the whole time we argued about the album and you kept saying his lyrics were shit when they weren't even his.

Also my review on IV was a joke.

Yes and that begins to prove my point actually. He dropped the suit in exchange for being properly credited as he should have been originally. He does not receive royalties for the song. And honestly how many people have a song that sounds like the opening riff in whole lotta love? Hundreds I'm sure. Zeppelin, like Harrison is just an easy target because they are so renowned.

Gotcha, sorry

You know you're good in my book Crow!~

sleepy jack 09-27-2007 09:31 PM

But yeah, I realize I listen to singers with whinier voices, Conor Oberst for instance. But I can't stand the wailing he does. Whole Lotta Love is a good example of this, all the high pitched yell singing type stuff, I can't stand that. Plus i'm not really a big rock fan and I can't stand 95% of metal.
