Default Neil Young

never heard his stuff till recently, my friend borrowed me a bunch of cd's and amongst them 3 neil young albums, the guy told me i can't listen to ryan adams without this, it's americana at its' roots....
i got "after the gold rush","harvest" and "on the beach", the first two are good, really good americana, the latter is ( well it seems so to me ) a pretty feeble attempt at a more rocky/bluesy sound...
i had no idea he sings "heart of gold" btw...
any thoughts/suggestions on other albums?

Listen to the stuff he did with his band Crazy Horse, Its very grungy and much different than his solo stuff, in fact Neil Young" is commonly referred to as "the godfather of grunge". His work with Buffalo Springfield (pre Crosby,Stills,Nash, & Young, which he was in too, just in case you didn't know) is really great too.
