The official who thread; as follows,
I don't know why Peter Townsend didn't sing all the songs? I never really thought Daltrey's voice was suited for rock, still dont. I often think about what the Who would've been like with only Peter Townsend at the helm. Then Again, I'm not a fan of Ted Nugents ability to sing, yet he refuses to share the front, some bands need a front man, the Who didn't in my opinion. Don't hate me for long.

The way I see it is, other than Who's Next, there's no real point with this band. I used to like the album My Generation, but in reality it's not good quality stuff aside from a couple of tracks. Same goes for the following albums up until Who's Next, which is great.
The operas were awful ideas and had not a clever idea in them. I'd go so far as to call them embarrassing. Especially Tommy. |

I'll never forget seeing them at a festival a few years ago. It was a real bittersweet moment, sanding in the pouring rain with 2 of my best buddies and hearing songs like Baba O'Reilly and Behind Blue Eyes being belted out note perfect. Even though only Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey were left from the classic line-up it really was great seeing them

I've never been into concept albums and rock operas. My favourite stuff is all the early singles plus I Can See For Miles, all of Who's next and most of Live At Leeds.
Just my thoughts. Some awesome stuff on their rock operas: Pinball Wizard, The Real Me etc. Last edited by aaron76; 04-15-2009 at 01:07 AM. |
