Alright, I may have gone overboard on that statement. Yes the Beatles have influenced pop music, but Stones had greater impact on metal and IMO metal is where the art is and admittedly, that's where my interest lays. As far as everything else, I'm holding fast. Musically speaking, Stones could spank the crap out of the Beatles.

1.) The documentary "Let it Be" documents the trouble Paul had getting Harrison to play the guitar parts for his songs. He complained that every time he tried suggest how the part was to be played, Harrison would give him the attitude, "I'm George Harrison...you can't tell me how to play!", and would end up doing it his way. 2.) Between the recording of Let it Be and Abbey Road, Lennon began forming the Plastic Ono band featuring Clapton himself. If Harrison was so great, why would Lennon even consider forming a Supergroup with Clapton, while still a Beatle? Lennon also included Alan White, a real rock drumer. At this point, I won't even get into Ringo/Watts comparasons.

Also Harrison played slide on Lennons Imagine album. Because Lennon couldn't think of anyone better. Last edited by boo boo; 06-09-2007 at 06:58 PM. |

Capable is a good description for Harrison. You didn't want to go to bat for Ringo...wise.

Its called Eleanor Rigby, and harmless? You keep going on about the song likes its something Celine Dion did, the song is extremely sad. How am I blowing radiohead out? and sure; Beulah, the Apples in Stereo, Neutral Milk Hotel, Elliott Smith, Of Montreal, Blur, Elton John, and someone more knowledgeable could probably think of plenty of others. |

Oasis covered the Stones just as much as they have the Beatles.

When was the last time you heard metal as MUZAK? What can I say about Metallica? They're savy businessmen. I don't know what world you live in, but I never see people in Slayer/Pantera gear. Rap culture dominates where I'm at. Interesting list. EJ I'll pass on.
