I feel it's a bit underdeveloped, if Zeppelin had gone for even longer songs like Achilles I think they would be even better than they are now. Because live we know they're capable of epic extended jams.

There is something way more satisfying about those jams being essential exclusive to live shows. There is something boorish and arrogant about the 15 minute jam session on the album (with exceptions) and it's like you said, we knew they 'could' do it, but were they going to.

You make a good point, it also makes the bootlegs and offical live versions so much sweeter I suppose.

But lets not forget I'm a proghead and love black metal, so a 8 minute song will still be considered short in my eyes.
