There's a difference between saying you don't like a band and saying that a band sucks. Regardless of how much you may dislike Tool, it is ignorant to say that they "suck".

The .zip file didn't work, but I listened to a couple of songs on their MySpace and they sound a lot more like Textures than Tool. They're still pretty cool though.

If you think tool is still a good band after their last album YOU are the tool.

Lol. An expansion upon one of the greatest albums of the past five years - sounds pretty good to me.

It was so boring I almost **** myself. They have done the same **** to death.

Oh and if you guys think that is one of the best albums in the past 5 years, you need to branch out a bit.

This "tool" seems to have nothing but negative comments lately. Just because you don't like a band, saying they "suck" makes you look stupid. Everyone likes different bands. Whatever floats your boat.

Actually, the new album incorporates many new ideas. Maynard's lyrics are much more straightforward, and rather than just singing/screaming, he experiments with several divergent vocal techniques. Danny incorporates bells and Middle Eastern percussion into some songs, and on the track "Rosetta Stoned", he drums in two different time signatures simultaneously. "Wings For Marie/10,000 Days", at intervals, almost appears to meander as if devoid of any sort of backbone, while still flawlessly satiating the sonic space. Justin and Adam have both improved greatly (technically), and they virtually reverse roles on the album, as the bass seems to take on more of a lead position, while the guitar grasps the pulse of each track.

I listen to everything from Electronica to Blues to Avant-Garde Jazz to Psychedelic Rock to Indian Classical to Rap to Death Metal. I think I've branched far enough.

Well put. While certainly not better than Lateralus, I'd say 10,000 Days is the next best album from them. Maybe not overall with the music, but with the impact that the songs make.

In terms of experimenting with new styles/instruments/structures, "10,000 Days" is Tool's greatest achievement, by far. The change from Ænima to Lateralus was amazing, but nothing like this.

Indeed. I'd kill to see them on this tour live. Hopefully Maynard will work with APC again one day. I'd hate to see them done for good.
