KISS- why not retire??

I think KISS should retire. The phony Peter and Ace take lame to a higher new level. And Gene $immons doesn't even like rock music, he likes money.

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-08-2006 05:54 PM

This statement could have been made in 1981 & still been true

ShadowSurfer 04-08-2006 05:56 PM

yes, I agree. 1981 was a low point for KISS, but KISS did OWN the 1970s.
No band was bigger than KISS, save for maybe ABBA and Zeppelin.

But seriously, I think KISS is at the lowest point in their career, right now.
2 phonies pretending to be Peter and Ace kind of sum it all up.

boo boo 04-08-2006 06:15 PM

I like KISS...To a degree, i really like Love Gun.

But i agree with Urban that the 70s had tons of better bands.

..................Half of them were prog bands. ;)

ShadowSurfer 04-08-2006 06:20 PM

In your opinion there was better bands.

The fact is there were very few bands who are more influential than KISS in the 1970s.

start naming them. (aside from ABBA and Zeppelin)

I'm interested in hearing who these 'tons of better bands' are.
Let's see if their influence is greater than KISS.

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-08-2006 06:21 PM

Wasn't Led Zeppelin's first album released in 69? Even if they did have work in the 70s going by your logic, the weren't a 70s bands.

I believe Zep I came out in 68.

Zep was the only rock band as big as KISS during the 1970s, and even then, KISS made way more cash than Zep. In 1978 KISS made 118 Million dollars.
No rock n roll band of their day can even compete on that scale.

The biggest things of the 1970s were

KISS, ABBA, Led Zeppelin and Star Wars.

Sorry, but the bands you listed dont even come close.

Okay, so how much records a band sold decides how influencial and talented they were? Jeez Britney Spears must be one of the most influencial artists ever then!

Laces Out Dan! 04-08-2006 06:42 PM

^yes!!!!

I'd say KISSes longevity is proof enough of their influence.

Dimebag had Ace Frehley tatood on his chest, not Frank Zappa.

Kurt Cobain put a picture of KISS on the rear cover of Nevermind, not Lynrd Skinnard.

KISS is easily the most influential band of the 1970s, save for Led Zeppelin.
That's a fact. what you think of them is merely your opinion.

LOL k.
Simmons>>>Bowie.
Frehley>>>Hendrix.
KISS>>Rush

I get it, sorry for my ignorance on the subject. I now see how how much records a band sells proves their talent, and even though you rarely argued my posts just through more useless fun facts at me, you're still right. Once again I apologize.

Yes I am saying KISS and Led Zeppelin were the most influential bands of the 1970s.
All you're discussing is who you like better. Big Deal.

The Talking Heads?
Dude, are you on crack?

Are not allowed to do what the great ShadowSurfer asks now? Better bands can be proven regardless of what you think.

bungalow 04-08-2006 06:57 PM

There is no use arguing with a KISS fanboi that they aren't the greatest band in the world. He will never see anything in any other light.

I think Alex is right, theres no point to replying anymore we can't prove him wrong regardless of how many points we make and even if we do prove it he won't accept it.

I think Zeppelin do, compared to half of those mentioned at least.

KISS however are just ridiculously overrated, they were more popular for their image than their actual music.
