When Kiss first came out in the United States, the only people that listened to them were elementary school kids. As far as face painting bands go Alice Cooper and the New York Dolls were far better. Kiss was a sort of bubble gum version of those bands.

Given the fact that their first three albums hardly sold and there were no hit singles from those three albums either, I doubt too many school kids would've been listening.

I was in high school during those first three albums and Kiss fans were EVERYWHERE. It really blew up after I graduated.

The reason I bought that album is that I saw it displayed on the wall of the record store - and, but of course, I had to find out what the hell might be inside of such a weird album sleeve! I was somewhat dissappointed by the music when I got home and put in on my sister´s stereo (I had no stereo of my own at the time). I never became a big fan of Kiss. But I liked many of their 1970s-era up-tempo songs (of which they made quite a few). My favorite album by Kiss was the "Alive II!" album (the one which was released in 1978 if my memory is not playing a trick on me). |

My dad's a die-hard KISS fan, so I grew up listening to them (and I love them). But I really think that despite all the cash flow from the marketing and endless generations of KISS Army recruits, it's time for KISS to be done. As much as I love them, it's just starting to get kind of pointless.

They same could apply to almost any other popular band that has members in their sixties.
