How was that implied? I just said he was overshadowed. He certainly was. Jagger is always going to overshadow him even though he was way more talented in his 27 years than Mick will ever be. Maybe it was implied by someone else, but not by me. I've always seen Brian as the most talented member. At least when it comes to instrumental ability.

I think that this is actually pretty blurred. Remember "Brown Sugar"? That was all Keith. They were both great musicians, but Brian certainly had different skills.

If he was too ****ed up to do anything constructive then I would say that his personal life has everything to do with his musical ability.

Well that depends on your definition of talented.

Was he talented?
I don't know, he may have been able to play a large number of instruments but he hardly put his stamp of authority on the Stones. and as that was the only band he was in and was HIS band, I can only judge him on that.

Most people seem to think the Stones recorded their best stuff with Mick Taylor on guitar.

If you can play as many instruments as he could, you're pretty damn talented in my opinion. More talented than most people. He wasn't a talented songwriter, but he was a talented instrumentalist.

Mick and Keith must have appreciated his abilities because Keith say in his book that the door was always going to be left open for Brian to return if and when he was able to straighten himself out.

Bill Wyman has referred to Jones as "an incredibly gifted musician". They all understood how talented he was. Unfortunately he couldn't straighten himself out.

He loved the blues. I wouldn't call him a copyist. How did he copy? He never wrote any songs.
