You don't need to say things like that. If he was a prick, why did they keep him in the band for so long? Anyway, the question here is about talent. Both men were good at many different instruments, and this is what the question concerns.

You should read Andrew Loog Oldham's autobiography. Jones was given chance after chance after chance to sort himself out, by the end the rest of the band were carrying him. And that was why they eventually got rid of him.

I'm not trying to defend the man, I just think that there must be some things about him that make his comparison with John Paul Jones an interesting one, perhaps especially the fact that John Paul Jones was quite a mild mannered person. |

He was a nasty little man and I believe it cost him his life. |

But nonetheless, I never said anything about his personal. And even if he wasn't a nasty little man, he still would have been overshadowed. It's a little off topic because I was talking about his ability as a musician, not his personal life. And I disagree, he contributed. He played slide guitar on many songs, organ, marimba, trumpet, appalachian dulcimer, harpischord, accordion, saxaphone, oboe, mellotron, harmonica, and autoharp. Alright. I've been gathering some Stones albums in the past couple weeks and the more I listen to the more awesome I think they are. I tried listening to them a while back and they did basically nothing for me (I was turned off by what I perceived as a lack of consistency on the albums I had heard) but after a few listens they are growing on me a ton. Im beginning to understand why they are held in such high regard!
So far I've got Big Hits (High Tides and Green Grass), Aftermath, Between the Buttons, Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed and Exile on Main St. I plan on picking up Sticky Fingers and Some Girls once they pop up at the record store. Maybe Their Satanic Majesies Request... |

You always turn up and say what I was saying in about half the words yet articulate it a lot better. Sadly Urban has hit the hay for tonight, so we'll have to postpone this argument. We can't be fighting when the mod isn't around.

What he said may be true, but it was a little off topic. |
