Classic Rock
The era of classic rock was very wide and diverse, spanning from the late 1960's to the mid to late 1980's. Rock bands of all different sorts made their mark in history during this time, pioneering the way for modern bands to come. This thread is for general classic rock discussion.
Please do not just post a list of your favorite classic rock bands. If you do, at least post the reasons why you like them, your favorite songs/albums, etc. Also, please do not post things like, "Jimmy Page is a guitar god," "Pink Floyd rulz!" or "The Who sux!" It does nothing to help discussion and just causes arguments. If you have nothing to say about any on-going discussions, than either don't post anything or bring up a new topic. To start off discussion, what is everyone's favorite classic rock album? Currently mine is Perfect Strangers by Deep Purple. It's one of their lesser well known albums but it's wonderful. It contains their original line up and it's packed with good solos. Any DP fans who don't own this album should at least download a couple of songs to check it out. |

Classic Rock is overrated Sure, there is some great Classic rock The Beatles, Pink Floyd had their day But now, I find that modern music has more of a draw Especially electronica I love all the electronica "artists" who make all the "phat" beats Beats out LOTR fetish anyday |

yes bungalow, once again attempting to start ****, but thats ok i will ignore you this time. My favorite album is dark side of the moon by the floyd. It was such a breakthrough for its time, it got progressive rock out there in the mainstream, before people really knew what prog. was. The effects were way ahead of their time, and i can really appreciate the entire album. It dealt with real life concepts (time, money, us and them), and the entire album was simply a masterpiece in my opinion. And the fact that it stayed on the billboards top 200 chart for 741 weeks says something. It also contains my all time favorite album cover as well. Long live the floyd! Long live classic rock, it will never die.

Classic Rock isnt overrated, it isnt underrated...Why?...Because Classic Rock dosent exist, it wasnt a movement, and its NOT a genre even in a remote sense...Its just a term for rock music that is uh.......... Old.
Sure, i love a lot of what you call "classic rock", Floyd, Zeppelin, The Who, Sabbath, you name it....But i dont limit myself to "classic rock" like some people do...Close minded jackasse's who think that all "classic rock" was the best thing ever and that modern music sucks isnt looking at it the right way, sure we have crappy bands like Maroon 5, Simple Plan and Alter Bridge...But then again, in the 70s we had Journey, George Thorgood and REO Speedwagon...Music hasnt gotten worse nor has it gotten better, music is music, nothing has changed. |

There is some old rock that I like. I love the Beatles. Pink Floyd was amazing.....though sometimes I got bored but all in all....they are very good. I also like all of those Beatle-influenced pop bands of the 60s I like Johnny Cash. Some is very good. It is bands like Lynard Skynard and Van Halen that ruin classinc rock for me |
