To really appreciate this grand era of music, you have to look under these headliner bands at the smaller and lesser known ones. Blue Oyster Cult, The Hollies, The Byrds, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, The Guess Who, The Allman Brothers, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Fleetwood Mac, Cream(though they are rather well known), Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Grateful Dead, etc.
^And those bands became lesser known when?
I think anyone who knows what music is has heard those bands

You will be surprised by how many people who have never heard of The Moody Blues (one of the first prog bands, if not THE first prog band)...And even though people may remember a song or two by Blue Oyster Cult and Dire Straits, i know a lot of people who wouldnt be able to name the band's.

Not where I live. I'm talking about knowing the band memebers and collecting the albums. For instance, how could you possibly appreciate Blue Oyster Cult if the only song you knew was Don't Fear The Reaper? Knowing a couple of songs in no way makes you familiar with a band.

Exactly Boo Boo.

By the way, I'm not trying to start an argument with you Bungalow, so just relax, this was not meant offensively in any way.
