I'm not much of an AC~DC fan either, they're a bit soft for my general tastes. But Thunderstruck? Highway to Hell? Let There be Rock? They get some brownie points for them, and a few other songs. I dunno, give me some Ramones when it comes to Classic - arguably they're softer but they're more party songs. If I want hard songs to destroy my ear drums, I have plenty more modern stuff that I listen to than to want CR to do that for me.

I dig The Who, Pete's playing was differnt from many in that era. He almost never soloed and he was there more as a complimenting piece than what stands out.

ACDC is alright, never been one of my favorite bands. I mainly just know their headliner songs though. Thunderstruck, Back in Black, etc.....

Judas Priest. I like them, they're pretty groovy, flowing and rhythmic. I dunno, I guess I could never take them seriously after Hell Bent for Leather - that song still gets me cracking up. The Ripper is a good song though, I like the lyrics. Very ... subversive? I dunno if that's the right word but I enjoy the image they create. I find the vocal style a bit clipped and hyper pronunciated though.

The Who I only have two songs (the ones that are used as CSI theme tunes). I like them, got a great pace and progression. Easy riff/tune to get into your head, and the sort of lyrics that won't leave you for a good few hours if you get them stuck in your head.

Pete was only a decent guitarist, but he was an exellent songwriter.

Thats all you really need to know. Face facts, while other bands were writing bitchy pine away ballads, Ac/Dc still was kicking your ass. They are what a hard rock band should be. They embodied the spirit of rock and roll. It was dirty, and rough, and any song of theirs makes for great driving music.

Ac/Dc is rock and roll. I don't care how many kids you see wearing their t-shirt, and I don't care if you can't get past that. Except for "Ride On" they could play any stage on the globe, because they are purity.

I've heard Chuck D say that VH was rock and roll purists, but even then picked up the synth. And when they did, Angus, Malcom, and Brian still were picking up the JD.

Stick around kid, Ill show you things they told you were extinct.

Kidding, but yeah, I consume music at a high velocity and large volume. My suggestion is stick around these boards and keep an open mind, in 6 months, you'll be exposed to so much great music, it will in some small way change who you are, as all great music does. You just have to find it. Try some forums you don't know anything about, look in the suggestion threads.

If I have my way, newbs will come in and leave scholars.
