Classic Rock (lyrics, blues, indie, great songs, cd)

You will be surprised by how many people who have never heard of The Moody Blues (one of the first prog bands, if not THE first prog band)...And even though people may remember a song or two by Blue Oyster Cult and Dire Straits, i know a lot of people who wouldnt be able to name the band's.

I know, but most kids today are just so spoonfed on modern music that they cant name many of the golden oldies other than the obvious ones (Zep, Floyd, Beatles, Etc)...I dont know anybody under the age of 20 who has heard of The Moody Blues, quite sad when considering that they were one of the most influencial and important bands from the 60s.

I am 19, and I have known of the moody blues for a long time, they have always intrigued me. I heard knights in white satin on the classic rock station a long time ago before I knew they had sung it, and thats when I started getting into them. Question, Tuesday afternoon, isnt life strange, story in your eyes, all great songs. I know what you mean about younger people and a lack of classic rock knowledge. I am one of very few people under 25 who is such a fan of so many older bands. Most kids are like yeah that song i want my mtv is so cool. Im like, um yeah its called money for nothin

and they never know who sings it. Im so tired of kids being into bands like the killers and green day and others, its like, you wouldnt know good music if it was staring you right in the face.

heres a list of other older groups that are very important that many dont even know of:
-Allman Brothers
-America
-The band
-Buffalo Springfield
-Chuck Berry
-Cream (I know its terrible)
-CSN
-ELP
-Jefferson Airplane
-King Crimson
-The Kinks
-Moody Blues
-Simon and Garfunkel
-Three Dog Night
-The Yardbirds
-The Zombies

All of those groups are very important parts of my musical collection, however most kids have no idea who they are, let alone what they sing.

Not where I live. I'm talking about knowing the band memebers and collecting the albums. For instance, how could you possibly appreciate Blue Oyster Cult if the only song you knew was Don't Fear The Reaper? Knowing a couple of songs in no way makes you familiar with a band.

I was brought up on some classic rock bands. Even though my mother is not a huge music fan her favourite bands were the Eagles, Moody blues and Fleetwood Mac so I had a decent basis to start on.

Even though they are not technically classic rock, they have some sort of rock influences which helped me get into the music I have today.

My favourite 'classic rock' bands now are:-

ACDC (The godfathers of rock with great riffs that are quite simle yet very powerful)
Led Zeppelin (inventive in their own way but with some great lyrics and riffs. Plants voice is mesmeric)
Budgie (Quite strange lyrically, but good catchy rock lines with solid bass hooks. Worth checking out)

Yeah it's my second favorite BOC tune. Harvest Moon is at #1 right now but that changes pretty commonly.
