Does anyone else like the album Days of Future Passed by The Moody Blues? It's a great concept album, not to mention it's backed by The London Festival Orchestra.

It's no Ricky Steamboat

I'm not real familiar with the moody blues' albums, is that the one with nights in white satin on it, or am I way off...

Yeah that's the one. Nights in White Satin is fantastic.

Indeed, my favorite MB song. I also like question and tuesday afternoon as well.

JohnnyK 12-21-2005 06:56 PM

Tuesday Afternoon is good, that was the first song I heard by The Moody Blues.

Today I went to this used cd/book store and picked up 4 cds for 13 bucks! I was so happy. Here's what I got...

Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs
The Who - Who's Next
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Greatest Hits
CSNY - So Far

I was looking for some King Crimson but couldn't find any. :(

Oh and btw Kashmir, have you noticed this thread is basically a chat between me and you with boo boo and others chiming in occasionally?

Yes i have noticed that, but really it's kind of nice. Those are some pretty good scores, I don't have much of syd barretts solo stuff, assuming thats what you got there. Let me know how it is or what songs are good off it. Pink Floyd's music was most definetely different when barrett was in the band. I don't like it near as much as when waters joined, but I can still appreciate it though. Tom Petty is awesome as well, being mainly influenced by dylan, and you can easily tell. I have quite a bit of his music, He's very mellow and laid back in most of his songs. Plus he plays the harmonica really well. I downloaded:nono: some instrumentals off of a top 100 rock instrumental list I found on the net, and got some really good stuff, like fire on high by ELO, I had been lookin for that song forever...

The Madcap Laughs is great, it's mainly just Barrett on acoustic, but it still feels really psychedelic. You should download Terrapin and Love You, they're my favorites. I see what you mean about the Dylan influence in Petty's work, but then again, what band in that mold wasn't influenced at least slightly by him. I love kicking back to some TP before bed or in the morning, it's a great way to relax. I've never heard Fire on High, or anything by ELO for that matter, I'll download it.

Kashmir86 12-22-2005 12:49 AM

downloaded both, I like terrapin the most. I wonder what terrapin means, as it is in the name of terrapin station by the grateful dead. You should also get evil woman by ELO, you will recognize it most definetely, though fire on high better to me, but then again I am a sucker for instrumentals...

JohnnyK 12-22-2005 12:59 AM

Terrapin is my favorite on the cd, I've got no idea what it means though. I'll check out Evil Woman too, though I don't know when I'll be able to. Limewire hasn't wanted to cooperate lately.

Instrumentals are fantastic, sometimes music is just better without any vocals.

Edit: According to Wikipedia, a terrapin is a small turtle.
