The Who put on a good show at the Live8 concert, but it wasn't really the same without Moon and Entwistle. The Floyd was better, Gilmour sounds just as good now as he did back in his prime.

it wasn't entirely the Who when Moon died, and it really isn't the Who now that Entwistle is dead. I hear rumors about Roger and Pete putting out a new album either next year or 2007 or doing a tour next year. Either way, it's only Roger Daltry and Pete Townshend, not the Who :(

Yeah I've heard about that, I'm definitely going to pick it up whenever it comes out.

Townshend doesn't get much credit for his guitar work, but he did have exellent stage presence. That says a lot considering he was with the likes of Daltry and Moon.

i thought floyd at live8 was lame. they didn't change it up at all. it was like listening to a record. but nonetheless, good to see them play together anyways. but yeeeah, i appreciate some classic rock. but my favourite has to be black sabbath, but with ozzy and only with ozzy...burn in hell, ronnie james dio. its dark and original, and i think it was a real breathe of fresh air next to the repeative blues/rock artists of the time.

Floyd were limited to what they could go (given the time constraints) - They were only able to perform 4 songs, but I think the fans were just happy to hear them performing again. Great performance in my opinion.

I thought they were damn good, they played just like they did in the 70s, nostolga trips like that are very rare.

On a similar note, who else agrees that MTVs and VH1s coverage sucked ass?... When Pink Floyd got on stage you barely got to hear them perform because as soon as Gilmour started ripping out a amazing solo the VJs started talking and ****, they interrupted The Whos performance as well, yet when that douchebag Robbie Williams was on stage there were no interuptions, how lame.

JohnnyK 12-14-2005 08:23 PM

I thought they performed brilliantly. They didn't need to do anything bizarre or spectacular, the fact that they were performing together again was enough for me. Dang, all this talk is making me want to watch it again.

Yeah the VH1 coverage wasn't great, but it didn't bother me too bad. I was too focused on the music to notice much else.

Is there any truth in this?

Kind of like Jimmy Page and Robert Plant releasing an album, it wasn't led zeppelin and everyone knew it, and the response was bad. I project the same if they release a new album, but oh well it'll be cool to check it out anyways. I also heard that Roger Waters is releasing kind of a solo album soon thats sort of an opera? I'm not so sure that I would like that as Waters is my least fav. member of the Floyd. I like your response to that link boo boo. very much like a Michael Moore movie...
