i think that there should be a classic rock forum. It would keep there from being a hell of a lot of arguing between the people who can appreciate classic rock and the people who think that it is old regurgitated garbage and that new music is the only way to go. then, maybe a prog. forum but only after a classic rock forum is made.

Classic Rock is not a genre, Prog is, i hope you can tell the difference.

Classic Rock would do fine in the rock and metal forum, Prog however is in much more need of a forum of its own.

You are a idiot you do realize that.

Progressive rock is a genre of its own...Its about as far from traditional rock as any rock genre in existance, if Punk has its own forum, so should Prog...Classic Rock however is not a genre of its own, its just Rock period, its not a specific term, its just a lame way to put every popular rock band from the 60s and 70s into one catagory.

And that post clearly proves you know nothing about progressive rock, sure people call it "rock"...But the reason it is called "progressive rock" is because its as far from standard rock as humanly possible, its a "progression" from basic rock music, falling into a class all its own, you could call it "anti rock" for all i care....My point is, if i made a thread about Yes or Genesis, all the threads about Norma Jean and Slipknot would make those threads seem awfuly out of place, which is why i feel we could use a prog forum, or at least a prog sub forum.

my point exactly as to why we need a classic rock forum, to keep the slipknot and korn and green day etc. posts seperate from the beatles, zeppelin, stones, etc. posts. And last I knew i could hear pink floyd on my classic ROCK station, as i could hear yes, rush, genesis, jethro tull, the moody blues, even king crimson from now and then, so i consider prog. part of the rock genre

They never play KC on classic rock radio what are you talking about?...The only Genesis they play is the phil collins stuff, which is barely prog at all, and they mostly only play Pink Floyd and Rush's least progressive songs, i hope you dont consider Another Brick In A Wall Part 2 prog...When was the last time you heard Echoes on the radio?.... Or 2112 in its entirity?...When do you ever hear Close to the Edge, Thick As A Brick, Suppers Ready or Tarkus on the radio?...Give me a break...Classic rock is simply any form of rock music that was popular during that era, the fact that Journey and Black Sabbath are both considered classic rock proves my point, its a silly silly term,

HOWEVER...Just so you will shut up, i wouldnt mind if we had a sub forum for Prog AND Classic rock, which would save more bandwidth than two seperate forums, and yes as much as i would hate to pair Prog with (vomits) classic rock, im willing to do anything for a prog forum, ANYTHING!

they have played it over on the station here, as they have played echoes and shine on both, which are some of floyds most progressive and longest songs, and every night at midnight they play a whole album in its entirety with no commercials, in which they have played 2112 before. Maybe i just have a really good classic rock station here, i suppose those prog. bands are never played on classic rock stations anywhere else i guess. and another brick in the wall pt. 2 i do consider progressive, because it is part of a 3 part progressive song, which they play all 3 parts of on my station over here. Obviously certain songs by floyd like young lust are much less progressive than others, but nonetheless they are still a progressive band. Maybe i am the only one that sees classic rock seperate from all rock and metal, but i think there would be a lot less arguing between people like me and bunglalow bill and alexisonfire, who apparently despise classic rock i guess. How can your name be bungalowbill if you think classic rock is overrated

Exactly. Prog should have its own forum as it is a recognised genre, and I'm sure there must be lots of prog fans on this site.

I agree that classic rock should have it's own sub-forum within rock and metal too though. I think both are great genres.
